Cranford is a story set in a small English town in the mid 19th century. This book is about the old ladies of Cranford’s lives. In Cranford you can only make visits between the hours of 12 and 3. Sometimes you could have evening parties, but the host could only offer bread and butter, because people in Cranford thought it was vulgar to give anything expensive to eat or drink at evening parties.
Of course the story is eventful, there were arguments about books, some friends pass away by accident, some couples suddenly get married. Their stories were tragic and also moving.
This is light reading, and it’s enjoyable.
